However, she isn't able to accept his death. Turkel was raised as an Jewish girl in Manhattan and was studying under Sanford Meisner and Philip Burton at the age of 16. Ann Turkel has one of the most fascinating and diverse careers in the entertainment industry and is admired all over the world for her accomplishments in motion-picture, television, modeling, and in business. Growing up in Manhattan, Ann always had a gift for entertaining. As a fifth-grader when she was in the fifth grade, she started dancing lessons. Her studies continued in art in the college. She credits her grandmother with inspiring her to pursue an artistic career. Ann spent her childhood studying dance, acting and singing. Ann at the time was 16 years old studied at both at the Neighborhood Playhouse (formerly the Musical Theatre Academy) and at the Musical Theatre Academy under some of the best acting teachers in the city. This were Sandy Meisner & Philip Burton. Ann began singing in high school together with her fellow students and eventually formed an ensemble. The band was based in Stockbridge, Massachusetts she also had a summer time at the Berkshire Playhouse performing plays like The Pajama Game and West Side Story. Ann was discovered when she was performing in a Vogue fashion show in her group. Within one week, editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland had Ann shoot her very first Vogue cover using photographer Richard Avedon. Ann later became one of the most sought-after models across the United States, appearing on cover images for some of the largest magazines for fashion. This included Vogue Bazaar as well Cosmopolitan. After two years Ann was able to enter the world market performing well for a number of companies in Europe and Japan as the face for major cosmetic brands like Max Factor Revlon and Chanel.
