Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born at Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of her hometown. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's parents also happen to be Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder was seven years old. There were no electric lights. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the absence of television. Ryder began to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged twelve years old. In 1986 she landed her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas at just fifteen years old. Ryder was bullied throughout her teenage years. She thought that by becoming an actor her behaviour could be reduced. However, it didn't occur. But she continued to pursue her goal. Her biggest break occurred in the year 1988, when Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue playing roles that were successful in various films. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
